what year is ur cherokee? mines a 90 laredo and i had the same prob during a inspection. there's a plug that's connected to the brake itself. up towards the top of the brake petal bar under the dash. once i get the pics uploaded i'll post em to show what i mean. mine unplugs all the time, at the moment i have it held in with electric tape. usually gettin out of the jeep i kick it loose by accident.

that'd prolly do it. i've noticed that if ya take out the fuse titled "dome" ur dome lights and radio don't work. i run a 30 amp for my dome lights, blew alot of since i got so much wired in. also have red neon lights wired into my blinkers, and then blue leds, blue led flashers and fog light switch wired to come on when my headlights come on.

My iPhone can post good......
For anyone else who has this problem, I've seen two other problems and solutions:
1) Inside the light housing, where the bulb plugs in, sometimes the little metal connector thingies get pushed in too far. Gently bending them out a little solves most issues (when bigger issues aren't the problem).
2) This one is silly... but I've had two buddies who experienced the same problem and found the same solution: The rear lamp uses two different bulbs... one for your running lights and one for the actual brake light. Both buddies mistakenly thought that since the running lamp was operational that it must've been a short or something when the brake light didn't work. A new bulb in the right spot solved the problem lol
