I have a 99, and i was told that I can put either cast or composite rotors on, whats the pros and cons to each?

Just did my pads and rotors on my 98. Bought the stuff at a local NJ supplier down the street. He gave me Bendix MRD477 pads and off brand chinese rotors: Best Brakes GP53035. $60.00 for everything.
Look at my pics gallery to see how the job went.

You can run into fitment issues. One (I can not remember which) uses different size wheel studs. If you put the wrong one on, you are gonna have the rotors binding up on you. There was another thread on this forum that will explain it better.

If you take a composite rotor and a cast rotor and lay them down flat next to each other you will find one rotor is taller than the other. Pull the old rotor off and bring it with you when you go to the parts store. There you will see the difference.
I called the dealer and they said that they are the same thickness and carry almost the same part number and and for the most part are interchangeable...they could be wrong though. I have a 99 so they changed it halfway through the year so it's almost impossible to know what my jeep originally came with
There is a difference in "hat height" between the cast and composite design rotors. Using the wrong style can cause the rotor to hit the steering knuckle and keep the wheel from rotating. As mentioned above, bringing an old rotor to the store to match up is very good advice. It could save you a second parts run.
