Question Newby looking for 2" ONLY Smooth Lift ...

Hello,
I'm very new on here and looking to just go up 2" without having to change additional suspension parts on my 96 Sport. Probably 2" or less.

Also SMOOTH and LEVEL ride very important.

Looking for experienced members to share what setup will give me what
I'm looking for here. Want to do once and not experiment.

Thanks.

2" spacer for the front and 2" lift shackle for the rear.. Very simular to stock ride OR aftermarket 2" lift springs for the front and LONG leaf aal for the rear. Slightly stiffer than stock or. 2" lift spring front and rear, or 2" spacer front and Bastard pack for the rear, OR some combination of all-above.

If you lift it, the result will only magnify an already worn out suspension.

If you want the best don't dick around with spacers.
2" OME coils and leafs (Buy the lighter load parts if you dont plan on running a big bumper, etc), and either run the OME nitro charger shocks, or go with some bilstein 5100s.

I had 2 out of the 4 XJ's I owned lifted with 2" spacers in the front and 2" shackles in rear and it road like it was stock. BTW, it will only be level if the front coils and rear leaf spring are not warn out and sagging.

Really depends on how much you want to spend.

Assuming money is no object, I would go with Old Man Emu 2" lift coils, Old Man Emu 2" leaf packs, HD engineering no lift shackle relocation brackets, bilstien 5100 series shocks, and bumpstops to protect those shocks.

If you really wanted to splurge you could get adjustable control arms and an adjustable track bar, but that would be overkill for a 2" lift.

I was surprised to read in some other threads and other blogs online that even a 2 inch gives driveline vibration and a transfer case drop fixes it. Is it one of those things that someone with a 2 inch lift should do, or only if they have the bad luck of vibration?

Am I understanding correctly that when the crossmember that holds the transfer case gets 1 inch square tube spacers between the body and crossmember it still has enough articulation to the transmission without any further work in that area? I get that it fixes the angle to the rear, but does it do anything interesting to the front or transmission?

Thanks,
Squelchtone

Ive had an 88, a 4 door 98, a 2 door 98, and a 2000 XJ. All of them had either 3" or 4.5" and none had vibes.

A TC drop is a chitty way to go about fixing vibrations anyways. If anything go with a Hack N tap and run a front XJ shaft in the rear.

You should wait to see if u have problems. At 2" you shouldnt have vids unless something is wore out or your pinion angle didnt get adjusted right during the lift install. At that point, if its the pinion angle, some degree shims should fix it.

And yes, u are understanding it correctly

I'm gonna suggest OME also. Pricey, but worth it.
