Default Newbie Question.

Hey all. I’m a first time Jeep owner, and have never been a “ car guy” I recently purchased a 95 XJ, a few bells and whistles and decent mileage. I’m going to skip over the no dash lights/blinkers (for now) because a lot of you have already covered this.

Recently, I cleaned the throttle body and noticed corroded lines and what I would call caps or plugs, just below the idle air valve. Not spark plugs, I have no idea what they are for. Vacuum, sensors? Ect. I’d like to replace them but it’s hard when I don’t know what they are. I’m sure you old pros will get a good laugh at me as I learn all about this. Below is an attached photo. Thanks.

Corroded caps came off of these stems. What are they? What do I need to replace ?

Do you have the 99+ intake manifold in place of the original?

Honestly, I don’t have a great history of the vehicle, after some research, there is a good likelyhood that it is an 99+ intake. What would that mean. Thank you.

Is that by any chance a 4 cylinder because that throttle body doesn't look familiar? Those are vacuum supply ports for various things and any unused ones should be capped.

Thank you for the reply. Yes it’s a 4cyl. One of the ports had a cap with a very small diameter plastic hose running from it, I now think it ran to the MAP sensor. Would that make sense?

Yes and that's a important hose to have attached. The MAP sensor has a lot to do with fuel mixture.
