Default Newbie question?

His may be a stupid question but I resently blow the motor in my 1996 xj at 218456 miles. The question is will any year 4.0 block and head work? I've had a bunch of people say yes and others say no because the older heads won't except the 1996 and newer intake and exhaust manifold. Different bolt pattern so I'm told but looking at a 88 to a 96 I don't see a difference.

The renix years(87-90) ran a different cam in the block that produced less torque. The renix flywheel is special for the crank position sensor, also the intake ports were lower. I would stick with 91 and newer for your 96.
