My dad recently used my 96 cherokee to jump start his jag. He left the jeep hooked up to the jag for a good 10 mins. When he went to start the jag the jeep died. Now I can get the jeep started but I have to keep my foot on the gas, as soon as I let off then it dies. I tried a new battery but no luck. Does anyone have any opinions on this?

Hoping jag means Jaguar...

Check your fuses and see if anything is blown, or your ground cables

 

There is also a fusable link in the wire that connects the alternator to the pdc.. Check that too.

As with all things backwards older Jaguars used a 12 volt positive ground system, that could be bad news for your PDC among other things.

 

My dad's jag is a newer ford made jag. I believe they swapped to standard ground for those. Now had it been my moms older jag I'd be in trouble lol

 

Is the CEL on?

 

the battery is dead so it is charging now. but the cel was on.
