Default Newbie needs info please help

Ok guys ...nice to be here.

Have a question for you all. i am looking into tradeing a 93 ford ranger 4x4 V6 (4.0) with an extracab and 30" tires and a 2" lift and 135K miles with a 5 speed XLT model.. Runs great for a >>>>

1990 XJ here are the specs (see below) and want to know if its worth the trade or not.

1990 Jeep XJ with many new parts. It has a new 4.5" lift kit with HD upper adjustable & lower control arms, new adjustable trac-bar, new OME steering stabilizer. It is a full suspension lift no blocks or spacers, has drop down brackets for more flex. It has a new Kaymar rear tow bumber with spindle for optional tire carrier, the bumper is super HD and has a built in reciever hitch which is rated more than the car can even tow. The tires are still like brand new, there 33x10.5x15 BFG A/T's. The motor is in great condition, they are known for getting up to 400k, the jeep only has 172k miles on it. I recently did a tune up on it: New throttle positioning sensor & map sensor, new plugs, wires, oil & filter, air filter, hoses, custom electric fan, new radiator, thermostat, new catalytic converter(passed smog), newer fan pully, has tags till 09', and many other new parts. The interior is in great condition, no rips or tears. There is a kenwood stereo.

Is t a even trade or am I loosing ? What about milage on the cherokees? It has no A/C also.... My truck does...

Thanks, Gyuys for the help.

I have owned both Rangers and XJ’s and based on your description, I would jump on that trade with both feet. My current XJ is a 90 with 171,000 and it runs great. The Cherokees are also cheaper and easier to work on.

Do it!!!

The no A/C wont be too bad depending on where you live. I am in OKC and have been having temps in 100-104* range and I dont have A/C. It's not a fun drive home but none of my personal vehicles has ever had working A/C. My wife's does though, thank goodness.. I will add that mine does not have the vent windows on the doors, they are solid mount and that really sucks. Both of my previous GM trucks had the vent windows and though they whistled due to the air leaks it brough in alot of air... Rather hot air but air movement none the less. With the windows down on my 93 XJ all the air goes to the back seat.

If you can deal with the no A/C part it sounds like a killer deal.

I think any trade like this needs an in depth analysis. What do you plan to do with what ever you keep, DD or trails only? What do you need more storage area or more comfort? Where do you live and is that a factor in the trade? There are more factors but you get the Idea. I would do the trade but I would trade a Ford for a "Big Wheel" so I am not objective.
