Newbie, need master help
First off, hello to everyone!
I am going to hopefully go and buy a cherokee here in the next day or so and just wanted some opinions on some stuff.
Here is a link to her:
http://lewiston.craigslist.org/cto/2727624986.html
What he has told me:
No leaks anywhere, except coming from the stainless steel brake line connecting to the caliper. Not a huge leak but a leak none the less. Lift was installed a year and half ago, runs great, no ticks or dings coming from the engine at all. Pulls hard, no chokes or back fires at all.
Said he has had it 6 years, and has put 70K miles on her. But has never had to change the clutch, just the throw out bearing.
My questions:
What should I look for exactly?
How much does it cost to replace the clutch in a cherokee?
I am decently mechanically inclined, but I am no mechanic...so pics or alot of info is very helpfull!!

Well... People seem to say the darnest things to make a sale. Don't trust someone you've never met. Cause XJs are leak monsters so check for leaks at the valve cover, oil pan and rear main seal. Also, since it's lifted, you wanna ask if it has Death Wobble. Do a search on the subject, you wanna know what it is when looking for a Cherokee. Also search it on YouTube. It's scary stuff if you've never felt it before. And since he says he has wheeled it, check the underside for rust

Yea, I am sure it leaks...what vehical with 200K+ doesn't right?
I have had death wobble before...but I never even thought about that...
I am gonna test drive it and hopefully it doesn't do it when I am...
Doesn't the adjustable track bar fix death wobble?

If you're looking at an xj, death wobble is one of the biggest things you wanna watch out for. And the track bar is one of the most common causes of it but thats not the magical key to fixing it. Cause it could be caused by many other things. Tire balance, alignment, worn bushings to name a few. But anyways, yeah look for oil leaks, death wobble and rust. Rust can be a huge problem if you ever need to replace suspension parts, namely the rear leaf bolts, as they are prone to snapping when old
