bought my first jeep 2 days ago. 1998 cherokee. 8 " lift on 35 needing some tlc. overall good cond. the front diff needs some work. poss spider gears. i have some questions for you guys that know more about them. what qualifies to be an XJ. what are some good options for my front end?? and my drivers side seat is broken. what all seats would poss be a direct bolt it?? thanks in advance

checked on my froint end numbers are dana 40869 265-7. i think this is a dana 30. how do i find the numbers of splines

 

Are you looking for an aftermarket seat? Might be cheaper to just pick up a stock OEM jeep seat.

I ran a Dana 30 HP for a long time and had no problems. I only ran 33s and a 6.5" lift but didnt have any problems. I didnt wheel it too hard but it definitely wasnt a mall crawler. I believe some guys upgrade to D44s up front.

Front and rear diffs need matching gear ratios. Is yours a 3:73?

 

What qualifies to be an XJ? The model of the vehicle should be XJ. For the front seat IIRC 1995-1996 XJ will work maybe some modification required. 1997-2001 XJ seats will fit as well as WJ seats (1999-2004 Grand Cherokee)
