Hey guys i just got my first jeep. Its a cherokee and need a few things minor things to me but did have a few questions. First is it needs an oil pan gasket, how hard is this to do with the motor in the car and what is involved? The second is i wanted to know if its possible to change the shifter of an automatic? I was thinking a hurst shifter style or somthing diffrent just wondering about it.

 

are you sure its the oilpan that is leaking? It's not hard, but Valve covers and Oil filter are big time leakers then the Rear main, Pan itself not so much. If you can find a shifter to fit it wouldn't be hard to swap.

 

I havnt looked into it yet but the guy i got the jeep from is a close co worker and he put a new valve cover gasket and he is the one who said it was the oil pan, thats why i asked lol. Is it stright forward just drop the pan and regasket it and put it back up?

 

pretty much yeah, dont forget to drain it... cause that would be too funny

 

haha yea that would be bad i figured i could change it out when i do an oil change on it
