I've got a 95 2wd country. It has the aw4 tranny and inline 6. Problem is, when I fill fluid in tranny to full line it won't shift. I drain about a quart of fluid then it shifts fine?????? Were there different dipsticks available for the aw4?

Second I have a 90 limited 4wd with a bad head gasket and bad a/c. If the tranny in the 95 is toast can I drop the 95 engine and computer in the 90? Definitely know to use 95 radiator to convert to open cooling system.
And yes I promise I used the search feature as well as google first.

It will take alot of wiring work to make the non renix engine work in the renix jeep.
It would be easier to swap the ehad gasket. Not to mention you wouldnt gain much if anything at all.

what he said... also i have a 96HO motor in my 89... yes it will work... yes it will go easy... there the same thing basically... the whole wire harness has to go with it but its not that bad... ive got extra wires everywhere that dont plug into anything i forgot were some went but it all works... there will be some sensors on the motor that are now just plugs and are no longer used... i say do it... mines stripped down and hella fast...

As huntingman says it can be done. You can retain the Renix electronics by changing over to the Renix 3 bolt TB and retain the Renix distributor. You will need the Renix flexplate & CPS as well but it is doable. The biggest expense is making the 4x3 bolt adapter plate for the TB but any machinist can make one for about $50 or so. 1/2" aluminum block about 6" squared and about a hours machining time.

checking fluid after drive home about 20 minutes. Running in nuetral. If fluid is more than barely visible on dip stick then tranny has trouble shifting.
