Hey everyone,

Just picked up my first Jeep. Had it for a month and never had so much fun driving! It's a 4 door, auto tranny with a 5 inch lift with 33" muds (huge change of pace from my lowered Honda Civic that I used to roll around in). Got a bunch of things that need fixing: leaks oil, overheats if I push it too hard, and got a bit of death wobble (but it pulls to the left so I'm hoping a simple front end alignment will do the trick!!).

One thing that has my mind boggled is when I accelerate from a stop, between 0 and 10 MPH, i get a grinding noise and vibration that is coming from, what feels like, right beneath me. Once I get above that speed, that vibration stops. But I get it every time I start accelerating from a stop. I am going to be getting my U Joints replaced (front shaft and wheel joints) soon here in hopes that that'll do the trick but I'm curious what else it could be? Maybe my driveshaft? Any suggestions would be great.

Random, but could be the fan shroud.

 

wheel bearings? one of the races in the axle?

Could be a problem with you transfercase, definitely at least check your fluid, better yet change it. Try putting it in 4wd and see if it engages smoothly because an improperly adjusted shift linkage cable could cause the t/c to not fully disengage and make a grinding noise when at low speeds.
