Question New TPS

I believe my TPS is busted in my 1998 Jeep xj classic. I am experiencing jumpy idles and the occasional jumpy acceleration. It appears that mopar has discontinued the OEM tps and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations.

I ordered one a month or so ago from a Jeep dealership for my 99, which should be the same part number as for your 98. The PN for my 99 is 04874371AC

Get the exact part number from your 98 to confirm and GOOGLE it. You will almost assuredly find some dealer online that offers a genuine Mopar TPS in the $70-$80 range. I googled the above part number and there are plenty of these sensors available.

You are going to be well served to purchase a Mopar (Jeep) TPS. They're the best hands down. Settle for nothing less unless you are in a bind with a dead sensor.

Thank you so much! This jeep is my first car. I just got it Wednesday and am still learning. I'll definitely go to a dealer.

You may want to first clean your idle control valve before replacing the TPS. Its located right next to the TPS on the throttle body/intake manifold.
