New Speakers
Hello,
I am wanting to upgrade the speakers in my 1999 Cherokee sport. I was just wondering if anybody had any helpful recommendations. The driver front one doesn't play and a back one is blown. I already have an after market kenwood dock installed.
-Speaker brand/type recommendations? I would like to have more bass but don't want to get a sub.
-What size speakers?
-How difficult is it? important steps to take? Is it just worth paying for installation?
Any other helpful thoughts or info?
Thanks Everybody!
-Hayden

please check your wiring in door to and from head unit to speakers in door
I thought I had a blown speaker in my drivers side door
turned out the wiring has a break in the door passage area(wire grommet under hinge)
I am looking at removing my doors and will be installing quick connects for all wires to door
just run new speaker wire from head unit to door speaker

Stock speakers are too small for any real base. You can do a self contained base tube, cheap and easy to install. I run one in my DD. I run an amp and sub in my trail rig.

I like the Pioneer and Kicker car speakers. You can find them at multiple price points. Speakers with a separate tweeter located higher than the bottom of the door tend to sound better.
I was reading somewhere online that an XJ owner had installed the tweeter in the little plastic triangle behind the side view mirror. I haven't done this myself, but was considering it.
