Default New shocks....which ones???

So my 2001 XJ has the Rough Country 4.5 on it short arms etc......but it has the shocks that came with the kit. I know that since it is on short arms its going to ride really stiff and the shocks that came withe the kit arent really "optimal".

So i want to get new shocks to smooth out the ride as much as I can witht it being on short arms. What would be my best bet as far as new shocks are comcerned?? I was thinking either Pro Comp MX-6's or Bilsteins. What are ya'lls opinions on the subject?? Any feedback would be great!! Thanks.

Bilsteins are supposed to have a really nice ride.

People are always going on about this shock is better than that one.

Bilsteins are the best, or Rough Country's suck, but I bet most of them couldn't tell the difference between them if you held a gun to their head.

Your Cherokee is going to ride like a covered wagon no matter what over priced, over hyped shock you put on it, it's not a Cadillac.

And I bet I'm really going to get flamed for this post.

No I completely agree with you. I really didn't notice when I went from Rough Country to Old Man Emu, then to Rusty's. Sure the Ome shocks were a little bit softer over bumps, but at no point did I say "OMG THESE SHOCKS ARE INCREADABLE!!!!!"

figured id throw out all the smileys u might encounter during the life of this thread.. lol

but seriously though people dont appreciate the ride a jeep has and dont realize thers other 4X4's that have the ride of a go kart! we had a 02 4Runner that would send us through the roof when we pulled into a drive way.. my jeep handles it like a champ

No i completely understand, i'm not naive enough to think my jeep is going to ride like a caddy or anything....just thinking there might be something out there that will help it a little bit. I was thinking last night that i might just buy some DT8000's and see if i can notice any difference....but until i get some LCA drop brackets or LA's i know its going to be stiff as s**t.
(Hell I used to have an '88 Landcruiser FJ62 that had 6" lift with leafs all the way around and an axle over conversion so i know about getting your ***** busted when wheeling or just around town)

whats better than new/better shocks for a short arm kit? control arm drops! this will work 100% better than new/better shocks i think you should get the drops 1st, especially if your shocks are relatively new

I'm running Old Man Emu Long Travels on my TJ and I love 'em. They ride as well as a lifted TJ possibly can on the road and offroad they're just amazing. Little spendy, but totally worth the money in my opinion.
