Default New Rad Issue

Folks, I'm new here.
I need to see if anyone has had a similar issue-
I recently bought a 96 Cherokee Country.
One known issue was the rad leaked cold. Just a couple drips from the gasket.
I got a CSF HD rad, 2671, and when I installed it I couldn't get the lower AT hose to even slip on the tube at all.
Since we haul a son to tech school and college I reinstalled the old one and contacted Rad Barn who I bought it from. After contacting some field guys they recommended some light sanding of the tube . I miced it at .382 and carefully worked it down to .378ish.
Tried it again and I got it about 1/8" down the tube and decided this wasn't worth it.
So far I have the labor and 4 gals of coolant into this change and haven't got anywhere.
Any experiences or thoughts?
Thanks,
Rich

that is the one that pushes on and latches with the plastic deal, right. i had a lot of trouble with mine, but i just kept pushing on it, and finally it popped into place. what does your old one measure?

It is the push on hose. I pushed and twisted and am afraid of bending the tube.
I wasn't able to measure it as the mics are at the hangar and I was frustrated at 2am in my garage at home.
The orig rad is a Chrysler marked unit.

Yes
You do need a tool. For mine it had an internal retainer and a tool used for releasing such clips on a 3/8" line is needed. The clips are used on AT, Fuel lines and others and come individually or as a set.

I work on WWII Fighters like this-

Rich.

I finally got it to go.
I used 320 grit paper in strips to polish down the od of the tube a bit.
It still wouldn't go so I carefully applied heat to soften the seal and it slowly worked it's way in place.
Way too much work for a simple connection.
