Hey all i posted a while back about my wife's XJ overheating, well i replaced the thermostat and did a full coolant flush and things seem to have cleared up...until last night. My wife went to get food and while sitting in the drive through she started to overheat. she kicked on the heat and it went down. Now i am thinking water pump but the jeep started acting weird lately. usually it starts after two or three turns now it turns over for a good 15 seconds before she fires up, also there is a squeal coming from the pullies...i am hoping this is the water pump also. I tried belt dressing in hopes it was a slipping belt but no luck..and the icing on the cake it surges around 50 MPH...i would like to fix all these problems so any advices or thread links would be very helpful, and yes i did search

You may try just replacing the water pump pulley first to save you some doh.

My fix though since I love bandaids is Junkyard Water pump. But you may be replacing it again soon since you can't trust JY parts. As far as the turning over part Lets get this solved first and maybe your pulley is just binding it up and slowing your start up.

It very well may be your water pump if when it started over heating you started getting a squeal. BTW, DO NOT use the belt dressing on serpentine belts.
