My bolts most likely broke because the sub frame rails and the pocket up where the upper shock mount bolts are were packed with mud since before my family purchased the Jeep in '01, then they handed it down to me and I never got to cleaning it out. All that mud sitting in there held a lot of moisture and rusted my bolts/nuts out. It didn't take much force to break them.

My brother in law drives truck for the oil fields out here, and one of the mechanics out there at the truck shop has a coil spring compressor he said i could use, its a two piece and it actually has a metal plate that bolts to the spring via U bolt, so they cant slip off of the spring upon compression, and im thinkin that that is a good option after looking at how it functions. i have another question though, my rear end isnt really sagging, it looks level right now, but i found replacement rear leaf spring packs, stock lift, but i was wondering, if i got those and installed them with my aal rear lift, would it put my rear high enough at first before it has a chance to sag into place that it would cause my drive shaft to bind?

I did my 3 inch rough country lift with barely any experience. I did it with my dad and the front coils were a pain in the *****. We made our own coil compressors after renting the wrong one from an auto shop. I had to bounce on my front axle while he shoved the coil in and then vice versa for the other side. I should have unbolted more things but it worked in the long run. The rear leafs were a breeze to do. Make sure you have 2 C clamps to compress the pack, cut off the holders then just reassemble the pack. i whimped out and drove it to a local shop and had them do the rear shocks. The fronts were simple but i needed a u-joint to get around the brake assembly on the drivers side. Overall i hate my lift and wish i went a different route. I purchased mine so im kicking myself, the front sagged down to 2.5 inches and the rear aal is a whopping 1 3/4 inches. Sorry to rain on your parade and write way too much but hope it helps.

Hmm.. My Rough Country lift is great. I purchased the 4.5" kit with the NRC9000 shocks and full leaf packs. My rear bumper is 31" off the ground with atleast 200lbs of tools in the trunk and my front bumper is 34" off the ground. I'm running 33" tires. I absolutely won't do an AAL, simply because it's a waste of money in my opinion.

ok, so it seems like aal's are a bad idea, especially since mine in my kit is a 21 inch long aal, just a short one, and i dont want sag. so after doing some looking around, i found some options. from rustys offroad, i found two options: they have a full length aal, and complete rear leaf packs, the full length aal is $59, while the packs are $229, would the aal do it or would it be better just to go with the full pack? and also, they only have them in 3.5 inch lift, now would it cause a problem to put 3.5 rear springs from rustys while everything else in the kit is a 3 inch pro comp? and at 3.5 inch would i have to start extending break lines and lowering my transfer case? another option, i also found rear leaf packs from rough country, that are 3 inch lift, but they are 129 a piece, so 260 for just rear leafs....does anyone else have any better opinions or suggestions???? i just wanna do it one time, and do it right, not have to keep going back cuz it continues to sag.....

if i got a 3.5 inch lift full length aal from rusty's off road to replace my 3 inch lift pro comp short aal, would that keep me at 3 inches of lift overall in the rear? or would it still just sag out to less than 3 inches? my jeep doesnt have alot of weight, no steel bumpers, just one sub and smaller box in the back, a couple blankets, and 15-20 pounds of tools. my rear seat is folded down so i dont ever have more than 2 people in it. cuz if i can get away with that, its only 60 bucks, where getting new rear packs would be about 250 bucks.....

Ive been looking at the rustys packs but they charge 70 bucks for shipping=around 300, but the pro comps i found at summit are around 230 shipped. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EXP-53111/
havent heard anything bad but should lift the rear 3.5". i asked them the lift average and it was 3.5 so no need to ask again they take forever to respond...

I've never personally used ProComp suspension, but that sounds like a better deal if you ask me. Although I still love my Rough Country =)
