Hey gang. So I have a loud ticking sound that is now occurring after my oil change last week (pennzoil 10w40). I decided to troubleshoot and change the spark plugs and wires...
well I put the champion copper plugs in hand tight, and had to replace the wires as well because a couple of my old wires had the connector rip out.. it started misfiring! So after an hour of trying to figure out what plug is doing it or wire, I gave up because a huge thunderstorm was about to roll over me. . I decided to put the old sparkplugs back in, except for one realllllly crusty looking one, and the thing fired right up and I was able to drive home without issues. I did notice a sliiiight hiccup here and there at red lights. ..
could all those plugs be bad? Is it the gaps? Is it the type of plugs? I didn’t adjust the gaps at all except for the one I put back in with my old ones, I just adjusted it to look like my old ones. (Oh, and the ticking did not go away)

If you did not gap it correctly, a misfire is very likely. Champions should be gapped to .35. It's impossible to eyeball the gap. That would be the cause of the misfire. The ticking, could be a sticky lifter, where is the ticking coming from??

I’ll gap them today and try again. The ticking is coming from the front. Used a socket extension as a stethoscope and could def hear it more near the front. I think I had a lighter oil in it before. I don’t remember. Heard good things about rotella t6 from that salad write up on here
