New PCM
What needs to be considered when replacing the PCM? I have a 2000 Jeep XJ, 4DR stock, auto trans, 4WD, 235k miles.
Im not too worried about the hands on portion of replacing the PCM, unless there is some non-obvious "watch out for this" step associated with the part swap.
My main concern is the data on the module, how to ensure the replacement PCM has the proper info. Can I go to the nearest pik-a-part lot and pull a PCM off a similar year model Jeep XJ? Or does the PCM have to be special coded/programmed? Will I lose my odometer data or is that maybe stored in the TCM?
What's the best place to find a replacement stock PCM? I usually use RockAuto for parts. Any other suggestions with better pricing?
Thanks in advance.
