New paint on trim doesn't match
Well the other day I decided I'd take care of some issues with my trim. There was surface rust on the bottom of the doors so I painted there, I painted my left fender where the clear coat sunbaked, and I painted some surface rust on my rear bumper... I bought a pint of paint from a collision paint supply store. They looked up the paint for the trim and "matched" it so they could mix the paint for me. The paint came out not matching at all. It's too light and it has almost not metallic flakes or shine to it. It's not like how touch up paint looks too dark because the paint on the car is faded, this is too light! it looks almost like primer color! I'm going to go back to there monday and ask for a refund or free batch, I just want to know if there's any to fix it in case they refuse to help me....
Thanks in advance!

Yeah I did all of that at least 3 times. I applied the base coats, let them sit and dry, then wet sanded with 600 and 800 grit sand paper... Then I put 2 coats of clear on it and polished them with a shop towel... the shine isn't as good and it still looks like primer coat instead of my actual dark silver trim color.

If they are a reputable company, they should be able to see the missmatch. Then correct it. Im a tad shocked thier paint was too light. when you mix for an older vehicle you always account for sun bleaching. AHH Heck. Scratch it up and use a self etching primer of your color choice.

I work at a body shop, alot of factory colors have different variances depending on when the vehicle was made. Some I've seen have up 6 different variances of the same color.

Wow that's crazy. I went back to the painter's supply place and they made my pop my hood and they checked for some serial numbers as to which paint i should have. They couldnt find the codes so they matched my trim color to a sample in the book and mixed me new paint at NO CHARGE! My question to you is, how do you even find the patience to work at a body shop? I'd do horrible there! haha thats why in auto shop I'm in technician training and not auto body.
