New member with ? about purchase
Yeah, back in the day, I would have totally agreed with you.
I've never needed 4 wheel drive in my Yukon (although I did use the auto 4x4 setting on some nasty drives to work) but as far as needing it off-road, never.
And this is coming from a guy that started and was vice pres of an offroad club about 12 years ago. I just don't go out in the trails anymore (no time) and I figure if its only a 2x4, theres less to go wrong (read "break") on you.
Well...this is kind of deja vus because that's how many miles my '94 XJ SE had on it when I bought it nine years ago (still running strong at 185k!). It had no options and is a stick as well. The key, at least for me, was that the "Red Rooster" was government-issue in WY and so it was well maintained. I've had to replace the rotors a couple of times, but this is common on XJs and Grands. The water pump went out about three years ago, but the tranny is still strong. No real issues, but then again it's a well-maintained 4.0L XJ. I paid 6.4K back in the day and don't really know what the worth is of the one you're eyeing. Best of luck!
