New to Jeeps and looking for advice
Hello I am new to jeeps...but I have my eye on a 2001 Cherokee 4x4 with 150K on the clock and a 4.0L and auto. Body is in great shape and the interior is not bad....it has power doors, windows, cruise and keyless. And a factory idle advance button and rubber flooring. Transfer case has both part and full time 4x4.
My question is:
Should I be worried with 150,000 miles and it has a small oil leak...not sure if rear main or oil filter adapter. This will be my wifes around town suv.
I test drove it yesterday and it seems to run fine and shift fine....Brakes were smooth......but steering was a bit strange (maybe just the way jeeps are with live axle) it felt kinda loose or not sure how to explain...anyhow.
Guys is asking $3500 and I am sure it's worth that....just wanted to hear what you all think?

I would give $3000 for a 2001 in decent shape. The "weirdness" you are feeling in the steering is a worn track bar. I would guarantee that. Nothing will make your XJ steering feel more wierd than a worn or loose track bar.

Oh, I almost forgot. I totally agree with Finney. At 150K the XJ 4.0 is just getting good and broke in and getting it's best mileage.

It's mine!
Well I offered the guy $3k and he countered with $3250 and he is throwing in a factory CD player in also....(it has the factory tape player in it now).....and he's meeting me down towards my neck of the woods....that saves me about 80miles of driving....
I am a happy soon to be jeep owner!
I will try to add some pics next...
