New to jeep life. I've Got questions.
Just got my hands on a 2000 XJ brought her home and started digging around, cleaning up all the gunk, just getting to know my baby. So in this I found things I need to fix. Well today I found a little sensor on the back of my head not connected, so I was worried. Did some digging on google.
Is it a temp sensor? If so how do I find out the year on the engine? what I found is a number, on The back by the driver, that I think my be the year. Could someone confirm the MFD location? It looks like it's 98 but everywhere I read they said they stopped doing that sensor on 97 and newer. Just want to know what is in my baby.

All the way in the back on the driver's side rear is where the temp sender for the gauge is on earlier models. 96 and earlier. Little deal with a threaded looking pin coming out the top.
Maybe someone changed the head?
