Default new jeep issues, open to thoughts and ideas

my buddy recently got a 93 2dr its red.

1. it doesn't start unless you give it gas while cranking it over

2. when going down the highway it has random shaking fits. its happened twice when iv been with him, not aware that it happens at a specific speed, no lift all stock, it doesnt vibrate it literally shakes from side to side. can be felt slightly in the steering wheel.

any thoughts from the experts?

if ur feeling it in the steering wheel...might not be a bad idea to check ur wheel bearings out. even ur universal joints;.

i would say if its a 93 that kinda stuff hasnt been replaced by the previous owner. and it probably needs it. i have a 94 model and it shook like crazy my passenger seat at about 55 mph would shake back and forth, i couldnt feel it in the steering wheel cause i was use to it.. anyone else could feel it in the steering wheel and i knew then it was my wheel bearings. its always good to keep wheel bearings good, wheel could fall off going down the road if they actually wear out that far.

yeah that was the first thing i checked (eyeballed). the thing that got me was that it only happened twice in a 25min drive and each episode only lasted about 30 seconds. its like the power steering has tourettes

Default Steering Stabilizer

Start by perhaps checking the steering stabilizer, then move on down to the rest of the suspension.

just cause it is stock doesnt mean it is not busted, take it off and check for resistance. it should take you at least 6 sec to cycle it from fully extended to fully compressed when you do it with your hands. i would also check your track bar and tie rod ball joints for free play. inspect your control arms for cracks, and lift your front end and shake the wheels back and forth to check for hub failure.
