new jeep
ok so i just bought a 1998 cherokee sport and it starts and runs great but sometimes it will not start in park so i have to put it into nuteral and then it cranks right over like it should... also sometimes the instrument pannel does not work (like tac, speedometer, oil pressure, volts, and temp) what could this problem be and how bad is it????

NSS-Neutral Saftey Switch might be the problem for your starting issue. they can be removed and cleaned but in my opinion might as well just replace it since its a new rig. The other problem sounds like a loose or bad ground wire or bad or loose fuse or fuses. Check the fuse panel for loose, burned up fuses. The fuse blocks are also known for overheating and melting. Good luck!!

High on the passenger side of the trans and any parts store. FYI the search function on this website works great!! (ie: NSS location) Welcome to the CF!
