Default New igniton switch and no start

OK so I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport, 4.0L 4WD, Green, lifted, torn up seats... enough specs.

Also I searched for a day now, I have given up and now I am doing this...

Ignition switch, the one that the key goes into on Thursday I put the key in and it goes 180 degrees full circle and no start. Knew exactly what it was. So went to Advance, got a new switch and lock. Why not get a new switch at this point. Put the new lock in the switch and tried starting it... nothing. Only thing it does is the gauges come to life, battery gauge goes up to 14, fuel pump kicks on, shifter moves, dunno if radio works cause it ain't plugged just won't start. I see the lights, and batt gauge drop a hair when I turn the key to START. I am miffed, and out of ideas short of selling it.
So lets see so far I checked the relay, I swapped it with the fuel pump one, and the fuel pump is still kicking on, tried jumping it, took the whole lock and switch apart FOUR times, made sure the park lever was centered, and the only way I could get it to start is put the key in RUN and took a screwdriver and touched the two contacts on the starter and BOOM it fires up. So I know it will start the redneck way, why not with the key?

Not sorry for the long post

I had the same problem it was not the ignition for me it was the NSS (netural safety switch) on the transmission if you look around on here there is a write up on how to take it apart and clean it takes about an hour and it works great a new one will run u about $250.00 or u can clean the old one up for about $8.00 with some break cleaner and some electrical greese.
