Question New Guy w Coil Spring Issue

Hello all!!!!! I wanted to know if anyone may have had an issue with their front coils rattling at certain speeds and around corners?
I just acquired my 2nd '00 XJ and it has a Rancho 4.5 lift w 33" tires. There is an annoying rattle and I can duplicate it when I beat my fist against them. When I look at the spring, it appears as though there is about 1/4in between the coil and the actual shock. The spring bows in the middle (you know, the way a long spring looks when it is compressed) and the bowed part is 1/4in away from the shock.
Anyway, is this "rattle" normal? Can I stop it? The "hockey pucks" seem ok. Is there a rubber sleeve I can put over the shock to act as a buffer?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Your coil springs should have enough pressure on them to keep any thing from rattling. Post pics if you have some.

I'm showing my ignorance but, in everyone's photos it seems as though the coil springs are the proper length in their compressed state. Mine however seem too long, subsequently the centers look like they are trying to "bow out". Are there certain kits that have these characteristics?

Check to see if your shocks are fully extended. If your springs are for a 6.5 lift and you have stock length shocks, then may keep your springs from lifting to the full heigth and cause them to bow. Jack one side on the Jeep up by the frame and see if the suspension drops any. If the shocks are fully extended, the tire will come off the ground as soon as you start to jack up the vehicle.
