new guy is overheating
Hi everyone im new to the site and my cherokee i have a bit of a problem with my 89 cherokee. The problem that im having is that you drive it for 5 mins and the temp gauge get to 230 and keeps going up the only thing i did was replace the rad because i bout it with a bad rad and bad fuel pump Im very lost help

Welcome and try to burp the system you might have a air bubble in the cooling system also new thermostat might help make sure the hoses are good also
To burp the system jack the front up as high as you can and take the cap off run it for awhile good luck

Electric fan runs when A/C turned on.
Engine-driven fan runs all the time. If fan clutch is bad it will not cool properly at low speeds.
Could be a bad water pump, or a blown head gasket.

if youre running hot that bad boy will blow heat after it just started on a coooold day. i would check everything these guys are saying and if no luck its almost guaranteed to be your water pump. jeeps like to run hot as it is so if its up that quick its either t stat or w pump... welcome to CF

Everything I have read says to jack the rear up not the front?
Renix closed cooling systems seem to be a bit temperamental. I recently did my tstat (stock 195*), flushed and filled, water pump and, added a "always on" switch for my aux fan. This seemed to help me. I plan on adding hood spacers down the road also.

hi everyone i went ahead and replaced the t-stat and water pump and it seem that when you feel the rad on the side where the fan is it is hot but when you feel the other side it is cool it is a new rad to and it still gets hot now after 20 min driving where to go from here i dont know. help
