Question New Fan Help...

Ok, so as the weather warms up, the engine is obviously gonna get warmer faster. I have the stock electric and mech fan, but I get concerned when I'm at a stop light and the temp goes up to like 225 before the e-fan kicks on. I DO NOT LIKE THIS. Call me paranoid, but it just seems too hot. My question is, right now I have a '91 stock e-fan.. and I have heard the '97 e-fan has more cfm. Can I get a '97 e-fan, replace my stock '91 with it, and then set the fan so it kicks on at a lower temp? Like at about 210 insted of 225?

Thanks everyone

yes, I'm almost positive that any fan 97-01 will fit right in. the only thing that might be different is the plug. I'm just not sure if they changed it. ether way its just 2 wires a colored one, i believe blue, and a black one that's ground. i don't know of any way to change the temp at witch the fan comes on. i took my belt driven fan out and installed a e-fan, and just wired it to my ignition with a relay. my second fan doesn't ever kick in unless its really hot and I'm stopped for long period of time.

I considered doing that, replacing the mech fan with a e-fan. The only reason I didn't was because I'm not sure of how to do it, what to get, the proper cfm, and plus if an electrical failure occurs then the engine overheats. Im still debating the swap. Im gonna consult with my mechanic tomorrow and see what he thinks as well. I just hate seeing the temo gauge go over 210. I would love for it to stay at 210 all the time.

stock electric fan turns on at 217. If you want to turn it on manually say when you are at a stop light or see the gauge going where you dont like it, just kick the defrost on. the fans kicks on when the defrost is on.
