Hey guys, Need help on this one,
I replaced the electric cooling fan as it was getting power when the A/C was on but the fan was not doing anything. Replaced the fan, comes on with the A/C now as it should, however, it set a check engine light. I don't recall exactly what it was, Coolant Circuit High? or something close. I cleared the code and it came back almost immeditatley. Unplugged the fan, cleared it again and it has not come back. So my options are have a working electric fan and a permanent CEL or no electric fan? don't know where to start with this one.
Thanks guys,
Matt

If you plug the fan back in again does the code come back? If yes sorry I don't know enough about the why. Suggest to bypass you coud get a relay at auto parts store and use a signal tapped into the AC control power to activate the relay, very low low draw to activate the relay. Then use the relay to provide power to the electric fan. Check your relay for capacity, I generally use relays rated at 30 amp for controlling aftermarket accessories. Hope this helps. If you can find someone who has the knowledge to understand the true cause of your problem then go with the informed advice. In the mean time you probable need the fan with the AC.

Yea as soon as you plug the fan back it it will set the CEL, but if you leave it unplugged it won't come on, never happened with the old fan, it was plugged in the whole time, it just didn't work. I'm not too worried about it as I don't really use the A/C but it also serves as auxiliary cooling if needed which I want to make sure is available if need be
