hitch and front tow hooks
Hello, ive recently met a welder that i wanna get him to weld some tow hooks on the front end of my jeep, but hes not sure where the best place to put them would be and nor do i. i was wondering if anyone could help me out with this, and also want to weld a hitch kit on the rear, but once again hes not sure.. please help!!

Don't weld the tow hooks and unless you want to weld a rear bumper on later.. i would just bolt a hitch in. Someone with welding experience will tell you why but i have just read that welding to the unibody is not the best of ideas for tow hooks.

^x2 Do not weld tow hooks to the uni-body of the Cherokee it is way to thin. Buy the bolt on hooks with the mounting brackets for the Cherokee and the receiver hitch that bolts on the Uni-body. You want something strong to hook to in a recovery situation.

i was thinking tow hooks on the front end of the jeep, its a stock 99 cherokee classic (with the AMC hood emblem) and i had recently got high centered off road and the only thing i could get a good grip on was the axle itself... i dont wanna do that again. would it be better to get aftermarket bumper with a winch mount first?

if you wanna drop the money for a bumper and winch go ahead, but you can get some tow hook mounts and hooks for pretty cheap, as for the rear just get a bolt on hitch and there you go. but whatever you do dont weld the hitch to the rear and dont just weld hooks to the front, you will end up destroying the unibody

These are mine. They have three bolts going through the frame with a backing plate, two bolts from sway bar mount go through and there are 2 other bolts to go in on the bottom. Thats a total of 7 bolts per side.
