Default neutral safety switch observations

A few reminders. The back plate that holds all the electrical contacts is plastic, bakelite or something else very brittle. It WILL break even without prying with what I consider an excessive amount. Prying on the 22 mm (large) nut with a screw driverto slide the unit off the shift shaft too hard WILL strip the threads off the aluminum bolt. On the "up" side, heating the shaft for two minutes with a small pencil type torch($5 at Harbor Freight) was just the thing to loosen it up and I set absolutely NOTHING afire. Ordering a replacement and paying for one day shipping from carparts.com will not get it to you next day - they drop ship that from the mfr with delivery time of 7-10 business days. The cost at three national parts stores locally were within about $15 or each other, each was about $80 higher than on line. FYI, my original part (210k miles) failed but looked clean inside and the springs were not hindered in their operation. Violet is back on/off the road and life is good.
