Default Neon injector upgrade

Hey so I put in my 703 injectors today and everything seems good. The Jeep accelerates WAY better, it's incredible. My injectors weren't even dirty, the change from 1 to 4 holes is awesome. The only thing is my Jeep is idling really hard now and almost dying and it's running rich and spitting a little smoke out the exhaust. Is this just the computer not used to these injectors and it will slowly figure it out? or do I need to reset my computer?

I have driven the Jeep once for about 4 minutes and then once for about 10 or 15 minutes that's all.

Hey, so I've driven it more and it's still running super rich and that like clear/grey smoke that smells strong is coming out the exhaust still. I've only driven it for maybe a total of 60 minutes though. What should I do? Give it more time?

It might need a computer reset. A service manual like chilton or haynes will tell you how to do it but a lot of people say that it needs 50 starts to cycle through the computer and it will be back to normal as far as the symptoms youve noted.

Okay, well I guess I'll give it about a week since I only drive it a few short times a day.

Okay I feel like something is wrong besides the computer not being used to the injectors. It's still running rich and has had a really hard and low idle like it's got big cams and sounds like a muscle car. When I give it gas it somewhat sputters and doesn't cruise smooth now. The RPM's will be at steady around 1700 or so when driving down my street and I can hear the engine not making a smooth sound. What should I do? I have reset the computer and it didn't seem to help. It's chugging gas and it's hurting. It also died on me today when I was backing out of a parking spot...guh..

sounds to me like you have a couple dirty injectors, they may have LOOKED clean but its the insides that get dirty... you can either get a cleaning station rigged up or buy a rebuild kit for them.

Here is a quote from the person I bought them from when I asked him how he cleaned them beforehand. "Basically I clean the outside with degreaser and a scrub brush. Then I take them apart and soak them a day in concentrated injector cleaner. I then flush them off inside and out with starting fluid. I reverse flush them and then open them with a battery and spray starting fluid thru them to see they are spraying correctly. Then I check them with an ohm meter and put them back together and use new o-rings and micro filters in the tops." I don't think they're dirty..

My 90 works fine with the 703's. It's just a little rich, and the renix ECU....doesn't reset, has no memory. You may well just have a normal problem. Plugs OK? MAP tube, cap/rotor wires, vac leak.... I might check those basics....bad gas...

Here's notop's thread.. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/10-...08854/index10/

Thought you might want to see it if you have 703's in your renix.
