Neon or Ford Injectors WHICH ONES!
Hey! I know that probably you have heard this question a 1,000,000x BUT which Injectors are BETTER. I have a 98' XJ 4.0 with some mods like Hypertech Max, afe cold air intake, hi flow cat, 1.5" Headers, Match ported head and 00' Intake manifold, msd box w/ accel coil,e3 plugs and 3.55's w/ 31x10.5 im running 6.40@100yd on sand and wanting to do and injector upgrade but dont know whats best Dodge Neon 2.0-2.4 or Ford 19lb Orange stick injectors. I really want to use the stock connectors but if i have to splice them i will. Heard to many injector upgrades but dont know whats best. ANY Experiments or Ideas that you have done to your XJ lately.

yeah with all your mods... id go with 96-98 Taurus/Sable 3l V6 DOHC injectors, 0280155715 256cc(24 lb ) has the EV-1 connector for your 98. But be prepared to do research until your eyes cross with flow-rates and part numbers.

heres a little math.
Injector size (lb/hr) = (horsepower x 0.5)/(no.of cylinders x 0.8 )
So say you have a 250 horse I6...
125/4.8=26 lb/hr injector
So for a 30 lb/hr injector, you would need about a 290 horse motor to utilize them.
Cherokees from 93 on made around 190hp stock= 19.8 lb injectors according to the above formula
The 24lb injectors should be good for some 230hp.

Not really. No matter what you put behind the 4.0, it will still pump out the same HP and Torque. Bored TB has its little gains in HP, the spacer is jump IMHO. Use that money for a beefier exhaust 2.5" all the way back. Injectors are more for better throttle and fuel utilization (mpg). All in all, your plan is good with the right stuff that work in unison.

Am I correct to understand that the "703" injector is only found on the 2.4L Chryslers? I was at the JY this morning and I never realized how rare this engine is...I check well over a 100 Chryslers and only found 3 with the 2.4L and two of those were the 98+ newer style plug. So now I only have 4 and still need to find two more. May go back tomorrow so I'm wondering, what other engines in the Chrysler family will have the same injector?

First, for a '99 XJ you need the 784 injectors, not the 703's. Second, if you're looking for 703's to use on 98 or older XJ, a lot of Neon's with the 2.0 have them. Third, if you're having trouble finding 2.4's, a lot of 98-01 Caravans with the 3.3 engine have dark green injectors that are the same thing as the 784's except the color, part number 0 280 155 789. Don't mix them up for the 0 280 156 007's. These are in similar vans and are a bright lime green but have a lot lower flow rate.

No that's not what we're saying. You need the correct injector number.
Here, just found this:

Okay, that last chart looks a lot easier to understand- if it is indeed correct. And if it is I would think then that it would be easier to say find an injector from a 95-97 Chrysler with either a 2.0L or 2.4L.
That is unless the 2.0L could have come with two or more different numbered injectors. I could not read the numbers on the 2.0L but if that chart is correct I now know where I can get a crapload of them!
Thanks for clearing that up for me!

just realized you have a 97, not a 99. Completely misread that. Anyway, an injector from a 2.0 will work as long as it's a 703. Both sides of the injector have a series of numbers on them. You need the ones that have 703 as the last three numbers on one of the sides.

"Cherokee OEM '96-'98, =21.71lb/hr@43.5psi(228cc/min@300kpa)"
"The better alternatives are in house injectors, Neon 2.0L 95-96 have 238cc (22.6 lb) injectors in it, 0280155703 (OEM 5277739). "
