Default Need Tear Down Info - Restoring A 1996 XJ

Ok so I have decided to remove my engine and do a make-over of the entire engine compartment including suspension and steering components.

I want to replace all rubber components, isolators, mounts ... you get the idea.

For some reason I am having a difficult time locating an FSM for 1996, I can find them for 95 and below, and 97 and above.

Seems like 96 is a crossover year and thus stands alone!

I guess you could say I am beginning a frame off restoration of this XJ, but it's unibody and cannot be removed from the frame.

In any case I am going to do my utmost best to bring it back to 'showroom' condition, albeit with a lift and larger tires.

Any help on acquiring a manual is appreciated.

THANKS

use the 1995 and the 1997, 1995 will give you 98% of it as far as body interior ext the 97 will give you the electronics on the motor.

I found what Irongrave said to be true.

I use a '95 FSM for the most part. If you have any issues hooking it all back up just PM me and I can run out and grab some pictures for you.

agreed. The only difference between 95 and 96 is OBD-II.
