My dad has a 95 XJ sport and he was wondering does his jeep have 4 shocks, or 2 shocks in the back and 2 struts up front.

Right 2 in the front and 2 in the rear. The front are easier to change than the rear. The front has one bolt located in the engine compartment above the shock towers and two bolts at the bottom of the shock. Should take you about 45 min to change the fronts.
The rear shocks have a large stut and one lut at the bottom and 2 bolts at the top (which usually break). Remember to use some heat on the lower nut to help loosen the nut. Breaking this stud is not a happy feeling. These studs are welded to the bracket and are #&&# to replace. Wear protective glasses when taking out the top bolts, rust, dirt and everything else will desend on you when taking out the bolts.
