So guys... can't say I'm a newbie, but I have a 1988 jeep cherokee 4.0 I6, manual trans., d30 in the front and d35 in the back.

Anyways the question... I'm changing out things that don't work on the jeep, one of the things is the oil pressure Guage. I'm assuming it's the sending unit so I ordered one through my job but I'm most positive it's wrong. They gave me a PS- 153, and apparently I don't know what I'm talking about. Can I be wrong?

I'm gonna go home after work today and look at the old one, and even pull it out to shove it In there face.

Goto oreillys or Napa and tell the guy at the counter to grab you a sending unit.. They'll look it up and get you the right one for like 25$.. No need to start ****....

Do yourself a favor and get an OEM one. The Napa one I got leaked, and I've read that it's a common problem with the third party sending units.

When i went to o reilys, and they showed me a BWD oil pressure sensor Part # S4185 . People at my job still say its the right one but its fine i found a website where i can get the original bell housing one.

I went to 4X4 Morris. Now just gotta wait for the mail to come in

So the OEM Sensor for a jeep my age should be the bell housing type?

Could it possible that I have a ground problem if I use the BWD oil pressure sensor? Anyone have an old jeep and using the same sensor out there?

It is an old thread but i figured someone might have needed an answer... I ended up replacing the instrument cluster and all the gauges work. Found one for 15 $ off of cragslist, just a bummer to see the mileage of the vehicle over 255 k
