need some help with transmission problem!
first off, hello everyone new to the forums
i have 96 cherokee 2wd 4.0 auto
ok the problem arose awhile back. it would have a really hard time shifting from second in to third, like revving past 3500 to even try to get to third, then instantly it would go into 4th. then i put the vent on open and it worked fine. now after about 2 months of it shifting fine its back to the same problem as before. and it feels like the transmission is never in the proper gear when its down shifting(lack of power on hills and trying to speed up). also the oil pressure is low like below 10 o'clock and never gets over the noon position, it get lower as the truck get warmer.

Sounds like the same post I put up 2 days ago and never got 1 reply. You should have the same Toyota trans that's in mine. it's a bullet proof trans but I think something is clogging in the valve body. I already have the trans out just having gotten around to disassembling the valve body yet to find the exact problem. Hope somebody will give you a definite answer because it doesn't look like I'm doing it today.

first thing to do is unplug the TCU to see if it will shift manualy
if it will the you need to power each solonoid manualy to see if they work proprly
this can all be acoplished with the trans in the jeep
the most comon problems are
TPS is bad
bad grounding to the TCU
or bad TCU
and sometimes the NSS can be sending confliting signals you should have a check engin light with this problem
