Default need some help!

Just got a 2000 xj and was crawling around underneath and spotted something, the lower cover is missing from the front of the aw4 tranny? Not good right? Or is it something not to worry about? Thanks in advance!

You need it to keep things from lodging in there.

If you purchased it used, could be for any number of reasons. Noise, damaged, transmission replacement, etc. Scrounge a replacement one from a boneyard.
