Hate to say this...but I'd take it to the Jeep dealer and have them re-install the distributor to make SURE it is correct. All of your other work will be to no avail if the distributor is not installed exactly right. The distributor is to the spark system what the fuel pump is to the fuel. It must be right.

Its not throwing any codes at all which suprises me. Also I highly doubt I need a dealers mechanic to really time it. They'll prolly look at it and be like wtf is this pos

well it appears i pulled a very novice error, looked in my haynes and accidentally set the distributor up for a 2.6l v6 not the 4.0l I-6...it was one tooth off and as soon as i replaced all the ignition parts and fixed that it fired right up and runs smooth and strong again, now that im about 300 bucks in the hole
but no matter my jeep is running very strong now and it appears that i will have many years of good service to come before having to tinker with it much more :-P thanks everyone for the ideas, suggestions, and help. will be back again and will help when i can!!

Well it ended up screwing me again...seems as though this jeep thing I've had for a few years now is really starting to burn. This morning went out to go to work, cranked over and fired up for no more than a split second, and died out....I figured it was a bit of a lack of fuel and its like 18 degrees so I gave it a little gas when I turned the key over, it did the same thing. I'm going to record a video tonight and youtube it so you guys can see what its doing. I am completely lost and about to call the junkyard around here
