Need quick help!
Alright long story short. did a mud run, and the alternator quit charging. Jeep ran fine. Washed the motor, not a hitch or miss. So two days later I get around to replacing the alternator.
Replace it and now the jeep does not start. Spray starting fluid in the intake and it fires right up.
Fuel pump works fine. Plenty of pressure at the fuel rail.
Any clues? Thanks

Distributor is probably still wet.
Try to pull the cap off.
How charged is the battery?
Could be flooded. Will it start if you hold the throttle to the floor? (This shuts off the injector pulse)

Yeah, that doesn't make much sense.
If you had a gauge it would be ideal to test it that way but if you're certain the PSI is good...
Got a CPS laying around? Maybe the mud damaged it.

Alright, I replaced the cps, and no go.
Its has fuel pressure, it has spark, no start.
History:
ran it in mud.
Voltage meter went dead, but occaisionaly would pick up a little.
Battery was going dead. Drove it for a day.
Started running rough when battery went low(normal for a bad alternator)
Shut the motor off, tried to start it and it would not start.
replaced the alternator.
Now it still wont start.
replaced the cps, still wont start.
unplugged the computer and checked the fuse box. No water or anything anywhere.
either or gas poured into the throttle does start the motor.
And yes I disconnected the battery first.

You'd be suprised how a weak battery can keep it from starting. That's how I ended up with my XJ. Dude tried and tried to get it to run. It would spin over fast but it just wouldn't start.
I bought it and stuck a new battery in it and it's still running to this day.

However, with ether/starter fluid she fires right up, so that kinda goes against a battery issue (although load testing it will give you the def answer).
So verify fuelpressure with gauge.
It thats good, than it seems its kind of narrowed down to the part where the fuel doesnt reach the spark. So injectors malfunction/firing? Not much experience with those.

Thanks guys for the replies. I finally got it going.
Turns out the cam sensor was bad. Which controls the injector pulse. The sensor is not sealed and it allowed some mud to get in. It normally would not have hurt anything but the sensor magnet was about to fall out anyways. So the mud just finished it.
