I was just gonna throw some square washers up there and remove the passenger side nut strip (nuts are rusted out), but I feel like making something, want to feel accomplished. Like I said before everything I need to make it would be free anyways, and unlimited tool resources. Plus like ^ just said I want it to be sturdy. Ill be hauling a 20ft 4000lb boat sometimes. I'll be more worried about my brakes and leafs then. When I do get around to making it I'll post pictures of build and final product. I just dont think $39 is worth it from whoever sells those.

I usually screw it up at least twice and say to hell with it and spend the money on quality parts in the end.
I had no problem at all making my own nut strip. I probably used a couple dollars worth of material and less than an hour in time. I also didn't have to wait for parts to arrive when I wanted to get the project done. With more experience and equipment, fabrication becomes easier. Don't be too quick to give up.

Finally got around to the shop, instead of making the entire nutstrip I just went ahead and made the essentials. The picture shows an 3/8in thick x 1in wide flat stock with tapped holes for screws, instead of nuts. Im using 7/16 bolts w/ lock washer and another washer.
