Need New Rotors...
Hi all, does anyone on the website have any experience with slotted &/or drilled rotors for the XJ? I need new ones and figured for the extra $$ I would go for the better ones. I have found them from $48-102 so anyone know of a better deal than that?? thanks...Tj

dont waste all your money on new rotors unless youve got you heart set on 'em take you old rotors to a local mech or machine shop and ask them to grind em down a bit LOTS cheaper

The ones on my jeep now are too thin to cut so I need new ones either way, but are the slotted/drilled any different from stock? ...Tj

I haven't personally used them but they are big on the nascar, rally and other road racing circuits.
I figure if they can help slow down and stop a 3000 lb race car from 200 miles an hour REPEATEDLY, they must have something going for them.
When I next have to replace my brakes I plan on trying them.

I have run Raybestos slotted/drilled rotors on my Mustang and on my WJ for years... $48 will not touch "good" drilled/slotted rotors
Stay away from ceramic pads (or anything marketed as low dust or low noise) if you want good stopping power. Additionally, ceramic is great at decreasing the life of your rotor. I've tried ceramic... I will never buy them again... their stopping power is plain junk.

yeah the slots get rid or the dust/dibris build up caused by your pads (unavoidable) and keeps your rotors clean= more friction= better braking and the holes keep it cooler

i would recommend running the drilled/slotted rotors with ceramic pads. I run ceramic pads on my cummins and it weighs 7,900 lbs the ceramics stop it WAY better than any semi metallic ive ever put on it.

I also had good luck with ceramic pads. I got them on my daily driver S-10 Low-Dust and they are proven to have better stopping power because the ceramic material displaces the heat better then metallic pads

I switched to ceramic pads after lifting 3" and putting 31" tires on. Right after the lift hitting the pedal with the mettalics felt like I was trying to stop a frieght train. She stops on a dime now.

just having standard pads front AND rear is nice. Had I had good pads on the rear of my xj I wouldn't have rear ended a dakota. Cars don't matter AS much but, with an suv, balance the braking before upgrading.
