I would say anything over a 5.5 inch lift you need to get a new drive shaft.

ok, I should still be good then. I'm going to replace the tailshaft seal and I was looking at the slip joint thinking there can't be much in the transfer case, I have about a 6" lift the transfer case is still in the stock location. I was thinking that may have caused the seal to fail.

Thats honestly pushing it. Why dont you AT LEAST have a TC drop on it?

Why havent you considered a SYE? Itll make life off the TC so much better. Is an easy install too.

Umm, you should definitely buy a SYE and new drive shaft to go with the SYE.

EDIT: Beat me to it!

Definately flirting with disaster buddy!

How much of the output shaft can you see before the DS starts?

A cheaper thing is to use the YJ slip yoke. It is a little longer.

I was thinking of a double cardan from a front DS, cut a section of an inch or two off the rear DS, and get the stock yoke back in place.
Would cost me muuuch less than a sye for the 242.
