Default Need to Installing a Geni or Power Inverter

Does anybody have experience shoehorning in a generator or AC power inverter into an 87 Cherokee?

I need AC for constructing outbuildings and such and would like to mod the cherokee instead of dragging around a separate generator. I'm looking for guidance to decide which would fit better under the hood. I think the generator would require a new pulley be added to the serpentine path (not an easy task) and the inverter would require a battery backup (no room in the stock engine compartment) and a high output alternator.

Your help/thoughts would be appreciated.

I have an inverter for the wifes laptop and my electric drill. What you wanna know? My altenator is 130 amp and the inverter is portable so not mounted anywhere. Just hooked up when needed. Thought about a generator but decided there was just insufficent room for it under the hood. There are ones that just replace your altenator with a much larger one and will even power a welder. I see no real need for one and have not really explored them. They are under the name Priemere Power Welder.

Thanks for the info. I'll check out the welder option. I'm looking for 3kw min for the output so a portable inverter would be too small requiring me to hard mount the unit. The abilty to weld, run drills, saws and such is the goal.

How about a compressor and air tools. I have drills, saws and other tools that are air driven. May not run a circular saw or a table saw but the smaller hand tools are easy to get in air vs electrical.
