Default need ideas for new cargo carpet/liner

When I bought my XJ it didnt have the cargo carpet in it. There is instead a very thin universal rubber mat. The road noise is very loud and i wanted to either get a drop in carpet or maybe lay down some sort of foam and get a husky liner. Anyone know where i could buy the carpet from, or have any other ideas??

Thanks!

Joel

Is there a lot more noticable noises? Did you do some sort or sound deadening or just pulled the carpets & rocked it like that????

I took out my carpet. But there are so many holes in the floor the noise difference was non existent.

There is more noise. I read somewhere that some people put sound deadening paint down to get rid of the noise. But its not really that bad. The only reason I took my carpet out was to clean up the rust before it got worse. I was planning on putting my carpet back in but water leaks in on the passenger side so it would be kind of pointless to put it back in till I fix the leak. Also some people noticed their feet get warm while driving. I don't really notice that to much. But there is more heat down by the peddles then there is with the carpet in.

I herculined the inside. Not sure if that helped with the sound or not. and Bought husky floor liners.

(Shameless plug): I have a complete XJ carpet I got from a Cash for Clunkers '99 XJ. Very clean + I shampooed it & pressure washed it. Color Tan, front/rear parts. I flooded my XJ & planned to put this carpet in, but I ended up simply pressure washing my own & kept it because it's heavier duty. Still have the other carpet. If you're interested, PM me.

By the way I used 1/2 inch closed cell neoprene as padding under the carpet. Cost about $60, doesn't absorb water, heat resistant & dense enough to block noise. Others have done different, but this works for me. HTH!

Watch out StationWagon, I got a 24 hour ban for "shameless promotion" like that...just giving you a heads up. This forum can be more strict than most.

To the OP: sorry, back on topic.

more noises? Yes. Even with bedliner and mats it is still pretty loud.
