Yeah may have to just go buy a new distributor to make this much easier..

Well figured out the issue..The distributor wasn't indexed properly...Got a friend coming over to help me re-index and then should be good to go..

i know this is a really old thread but im having these same issues. mine wont turn over at all...what was the "goofy" thing that you did. my xj has been sitting for 6 years and i gave it a good tune up and changed out alot of parts with new ones and it should be ready to fire up...it just doesnt turn over.

the cps is on the bell housing the module in the dict is pick up coil rtemove dist and remove gear on bottom pull out shaft then replace pick up coil re install gear and reinstall dist
