Default need help sourcing a shifter cable for a 99 XJ

The new engine is all but installed in my 99 but I screwed up the shifter cable when I was putting the bell bolts in. I cracked the darn thing now I need a new one. I have been to my local auto parts stores and they have no listing. My dealer is a joke as well. Does anyone know a part # or know where to get one. I also called my local salvage yard since they had a nice 99 with a blown engine but they crushed it already

I've got a part out from a 99. Can you take a pic of what exactly you need?

I don't know of anywhere you could buy a brand new one.

I will take a picture tonight when I get home.

there are actually 2 cables, The one I broke is the one that is connected directly to the gear selector and the shifter linkage.

Thank for the link

Default What size bolts?

Sorry for re-awakening an old thread, but I figured there's no point in starting a new one since my issue is related. I was having nearly the same issue so I went underneath my car to check it out. Turns out the two bolts that hold on the bracket for the shift cable are completely gone, so the cable is just flopping around and there's no force behind it to change gears. I'm not sure if this is going to fix the issue but if I could find bolts that fit then it would be an easy fix and would only cost probably 5 bucks. I had been having some issues with it shifting into drive. 1, 2, and 3 were non-existent because I had to pull the lever all the way down to get it to go into drive. Today I drove to work and when I got there I was not able to get it out of drive at all. I somehow managed to get it back into neutral to get it to start, and then it wouldn't go anywhere from there. No reverse, no park, no drive, it's just stuck in neutral now. Luckily the bolts aren't sheared off, they just aren't there, like they just slowly loosened themselves out over time or something. I'll attach a pic so it's easier to see.

*EDIT*

I found a diagram at http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/...modelYear=1999, but it doesn't list the bolt (15). Autozone and Oreilly's could not find the bolt in their computers. I kind of expected that, but it was still somewhat frustrating. I don't have time to wait to take it to a dealership and I really didn't want to pay for them to fix it either and try to feed me some BS about what might be wrong when I could just buy the bolts and try it out. So I just bought a large bolt and washer set from Autozone. Turns out it's an M8 1.25 x 25. It's raining here and I don't have a garage so it was a pain to get in, but it all works now
