Default Need help with sons XJ

Howdy everyone, got a question for you.
My son has a 95 XJ Country and we did a tuneup to get it ready for his smog check so he can renew his tags. Well it is showing a Code 76---Ballast bypass relay---an open or short ing the fuel pump relay circut.
I can not find this dang thing anywhere in the engine bay. If it was removed would it set this code?
My son talked to a buddy of his and he said the 95 never had one, I told him that if this so it shouldn't be showing this dang code.
And to answer your questions, we have cleared the codes over and over and it keeps showing back up.
Any help would be awsome,
Thanks a bunch.
Don.

Don, i think your reading the code wrong. On an OBDI (96 started OBDII)setup it only goes up to 55 whick you will always get at the end of a reading.

Is it possible your missing the slight pause and actually have a code 21 followed by a 55?

I could be way wrong here i suppose...

In my Chilton book is says that the carbureted engines go to #55.
91-95 models go to #88. To read the codes on my sons jeep we turn to key on-off 5 times and it showes the codes, isn't that OBD1.

If i'm correct that you are missing the pause and you have a 21 plus the 55 end of sequence that would indicate a bad O2 sensor.
